Charming Cottage w/ Incredible Views & Firepit

Pet friendly. Great scenery. Hot tub. Fire pit. Very relaxing and comfortable.

Lovely property with quiet, wraparound deck from which to enjoy the wildlife. Lots of birds, deer, and bunny rabbits as well as the cows that came to the fence in the afternoons. We enjoyed the fire pit and JJ filled up the wood pile for us more than we expected! We were looking forward to enjoying the very clean hot tub, but the weather did not cooperate - next time! We were close enough to Shenandoah to hike several days and we explored Luray Caverns one day, so the location is ideal. The only thing to be aware of is that there is a chicken farm by the main road; it is not visible from the house but the smell did waft in and out at times and there is a mechanical humming sound from the farm - we did not find it obtrusive, as I spent as much time as possible on the porch. Overall, we found our stay very relaxing and enjoyable, and we would return in the future!

This place was PERFECT for what we needed. Spacious, comfortable, easy to navigate. From the house we saw deer, cows, birds, and a cat - and no neighbors (though I'm sure they are all very nice). We didn't spend a ton of time in the house, since our stay revolved around hiking in Shenandoah Nat'l Park. From the house to the Thornton Gap Entrance Station, the drive was a picturesque 15 minutes. When we got back from a long day of hiking in the mountains, this house was exactly the kind of respite we needed. We were comfortable, everything was exactly as promised/described, and the host was exceptionally responsive to any questions we (overplanners) had. If we were to visit Shenandoah again - and I truly hope we do - we will be re-booking here. It was fantastic.
